Portfolio Implementation

Carrying on from Portfolio Design, I now had created my template on Hotglue. Once finished I realised I could make it a lot more simple. The main aspects I wanted to change were minimalizing the navigation functions and creating more space for the background image.

After moving things around and keeping Personal Branding in mind I got a look that I liked. Instead of having a link to every project on the navigation bar, I instead had a link to a portfolio page containing all of my projects. As well as changing that I also added three links to previous articles, I felt this was a good idea as it means the user can go straight to an individual project instead of having to go through the project page.

To make sure I kept with my personal brand I made sure I stayed to three main colours: Orange, White and grey. I altered the navigation bar so that the buttons would stand out more; I did this by making the background darker and the buttons lighter, instead of the previous blue on blue. But after placing the background on my page, I felt the colour was just a little bit too bright and that the text box needed to stand out more.

After the idea of adding three selections to the home page, it gave me the idea to do the same in the projects menu. My reason behind this was that if someone visited the site through a mobile device or a tablet, it would be tough to navigate through the pages using text links. So to change this I created larger thumbnails.

I also decided to add share buttons to my pages located on both the top and bottom of the page. I originally wanted to have the share buttons float on the right of the screen and follow the user when you scroll through the pages, but I couldn't find a way to do that in Hotglue and if the website was being used on a smaller device it might get in the way of some information.

I felt my website was a success in the way that I achieved everything I set out to. However, only using Hotglue meant I was quite limited to what I could achieve. As previously stated I would have liked to have floating share buttons, but I couldn't find a way to do it anywhere.
I would have also liked to have created a or which would have emailed me but again I am unsure if i could have implemented that.
